We won: Kids’ ward set for $12k IKEA makeover

The staff at Mount Druitt Hospital’s children’s ward are celebrating the news that they will be receiving a $12,000 IKEA makeover.

Thanks to the support of the community and their votes, the Children’s Ward at Mount Druitt Hospital is the winner of the IKEA Marsden Park Living Local Community Grant.

A $12,000 makeover will create new parent and carer spaces within the ward to provide quiet retreat areas to distract from the hospital environment, whilst still being close to their child’s hospital bed.

Fundraising and events manager Sonia Daniels said the team was overwhelmed with the public support.

“Thank you to our staff, volunteers, patients, carers and community members who voted for us, and thank you to IKEA Marsden Park,” Sonia said.

“This funding will allow us to create relaxing environments for parents whose child is in our care, allowing them to recharge.”

The IKEA Marsden Park team will create a project team who will oversee the makeover with input from our patients, families and staff.
