Welcome to our new Westmead midwives
Westmead Hospital‘s Women’s and Newborn Health recently welcomed 18 new graduate midwives who began their exciting new careers at Westmead Hospital recently, as part of the Transition to Practice Program.

Westmead Hospital’s Nurse Midwife Operations manager said these midwives face a rewarding and challenging year ahead as they learn to navigate their new roles and implement everything they’ve learned about being with women during pregnancy, birth and the mothering period.
“Our midwives will be able to practice in different models of care offered to women at Westmead, including the highly popular “Caseload Model of Care,” she said.
“The graduates will be provided with opportunities to consolidate their learning and skills in a supportive environment.
“Continuity of midwifery care is so important to our health system and midwives are vital to improving women and their families’ healthcare during what is essentially, a very normal and exciting life time event.”
