Brett just keeps coming back to WSLHD

Just like a boomerang, Brett Gardiner (former Sydney West Area Health Service medical administration director and rehabilitation medicine staff specialist who has worked at Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Westmead and Parramatta hospitals) just keeps coming back to WSLHD.
Brett has taken on the role of Blacktown and Mount Druitt hospitals’ acting medical director. He is responsible for providing medical workforce education and enhancing communication between clinical services and clinical governance at the hospitals.
“It’s great to be back at western Sydney – it’s like my second home,” Brett said.
“I was born in Parramatta Hospital, grew up in the area and spent a lot of my working life here.
“It’s a delight to be back at Blacktown and Mount Druitt hospitals – there is an energy and a can-do attitude for people who need to use our services.
“There’s a lot to do, starting with accreditation, medical workforce planning and lifting our profile, standards of care and professionalism, as we transition to a full-scale tertiary teaching hospital over the next few years, along with assisting our staff to do their jobs and achieve their professional and personal goals. The list just keeps going! But most of all, it’s important that we enjoy our work and seize the opportunities we have to make a positive difference to people’s lives.
“I enjoy being able to work with our staff to innovate and improve the health and well-being of those we professionally serve.
“It’s rewarding when we are able to provide better quality care and experiences for those who use our services. Being able to lead, mentor and support our staff is a privilege and constant challenge.”’
