Patients floored by new-look Westmead halls

Westmead Hospital’s flooring recently had an upgrade – and the new surface is already proving a winner with staff, patients and visitors.
The hospital has replaced the old carpet in the main corridors with vinyl, significantly improving the look and use of the space.
Patients and staff have commented on the new floor, with many offering positive feedback on the change, including the buggy drivers, who are finding it a much smoother ride!
Westmead orderlies manager David Horne said the old red carpet had reached its use-by-date.
“This is the first stage of refurbishment of public areas across the hospital so it’s great to see,” he said.
“The flooring upgrade was really a team effort – everyone worked together to get the job done and ensure it caused minimal disruption.
The upgrade took nearly four weeks and was completed after-hours and on weekends to avoid disrupting hospital operations.
