Xmas decos fund medical mission
The generosity of staff in Westmead Hospital’s Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor units has helped fund a nurse’s medical mission to the Phillipines.
Ward staff decided to sell off the decorations from their popular 2016 Wonderful World of Windows Christmas display, raising more than $1000.
The funds were donated to Westmead Hospital maternity liaison officer Nelma Gulas, to help fund her medical mission to a small island in the Phillipines.
The staff often put their left-over Christmas decorations to good use, sending dozens of Christmas bears to an orphanage in Sri Lanka and selling Christmas snowdomes to raise money to train Nepalese health workers to teach pelvic floor exercises.
Pelvic Floor Unit director Dr Jenny King said it was lovely to see the Christmas decorations being used to help others.
