Hiring staff is now easier – we’re improving
In the last People Matter (Your Say) survey, WSLHD staff rated the statement: “My organisation’s processes for recruiting employees are efficient” in the top three areas for improvement.
Since the last People Matter survey, our recruitment team has been working to streamline the way we hire staff, helping our departments to get the right talent, sooner.
Some of the improvements that are now live include:
- A quick reference guide to assist managers with methods of filling a vacancy
- A revised Recruitment Manager’s Guide
- A removal of requirement to represent 100 points ID for existing WSLHD employees
- Options available for panel members to conduct culling and shortlist outside of the eRecruit system via a declaration
Information sessions are being held across the LHD to share this information with line managers.
ITS customer engagement team manager Matt Hou agreed the changes had enabled him to find the right people a lot sooner:

“I have been working with Recruitment Services since we restructured last July to fill positions in my team,” he said.
“It’s important for me to find staff with the right balance of business and technical skills.
“My team are able to add value by working with departments to understand and address their business needs.
“I’ve found within eight weeks I can now advertise, interview and send a letter of offer to the preferred applicant, which is fantastic.”
