Topping out marks major multi-storey milestone

ADCO Constructions, the builders behind Westmead Hospital’s new multi-storey car park, have marked the final phase of its construction with a traditional “topping out” ceremony.
A construction industry practice, the “topping out” ceremony involved a tree being lifted onto the highest point of the car park to mark the end of construction work.
ADCO Constructions also paid homage to the many builders involved in the project, which took more than 12 months to complete and saw nearly 10,200 cubic metres of concrete poured – that’s 1700 truckloads!
Work will now begin to prepare the inside of the eight-storey car park prior to its opening later this year.
The car park is part of the Westmead Redevelopment’s effort to manage traffic across the precinct.
Members of the Westmead Redevelopment team, along with construction workers, also enjoyed a BBQ to celebrate the milestone.

Congratulations to all involved – we can’t wait to see the finished product!
