Road to Recovery: New unit opens at Mount Druitt Hospital

It’s a unit most patients don’t remember much about, but they can be rest-assured that our new Recovery Unit at Mount Druitt Hospital, which opened this week, is light, bright and purpose-built for the best post-operative care.
Nurse Unit Manager Rhonda Sneddon said staff love the new unit and even the patients are impressed.
“It’s a great design, with brand new monitoring and equipment to provide the best care for our patients,” she said.
“Nursing staff, anaesthetists and patients are all extremely happy with the new unit.”
The new 12-bed unit opened this week as part of the BMDH Project Stage 2 expansion project at Mount Druitt Hospital.
With the Pre-Admission Clinic and Recovery Unit now open, and a new digital theatre due for completion later this year, it significantly enhances the hospital’s capacity as a centre of excellence for elective surgery.
A new MRI, drug health and dialysis services are due for completion later in 2017.
