Staff get lesson in patient-centred care

Staff from Westmead Hospital’s day surgery, OPERA ward, imaging and patient discharge unit enjoyed the workshop.

Staff from Westmead Hospital’s day surgery, OPERA ward, imaging and the patient discharge unit attended a workshop in June, focusing on patient-centred actions.

The workshops, run by nursing education and the patient and carer experience team, provided an opportunity for the multidisciplinary teams to take action plans back to their wards to improve patient-centred care.

The workshops featured presenters from WSLHD’s patient and carer experience team, patient advice and liaison and the essentials of care team, who covered topics like the delivery of patient-centred care, health literacy, TeachBack, communication and self-care.

Workshop attendees have taken some great ideas back to their wards.

The My Experience Matters survey will be used to measure improvements in patient experience. We look forward to seeing the positive outcomes for staff and patients!
