Alvina believes her future is at Blacktown.

Blacktown resident Alvina Ng has starred in a new commercial encouraging junior doctors to kick-start their future at the internationally acclaimed Blacktown Hospital.

Applications are now open across the state for up to 4000 junior medical officer (JMO) positions in the annual recruitment drive – the largest of its kind in the country.

Doctors with at least one year of postgraduate work experience who looking for a position in NSW are invited to apply.

Alvina, a junior medical officer who finished medical school last year, has called on junior doctors to select Blacktown Hospital as a top choice, like she did.

“The atmosphere between senior staff and junior doctors really encourages me. The whole working environment is so warm and welcoming,” she said.

“It inspires me to know I’m at the most technologically advanced hospital. With the new building coming up it’s really exciting, I want to be part of this whole journey.”

Western Sydney Local Health District divisional director, ambulatory medicine and diabetes and endocrinology, Dr Mark McLean said Blacktown was a place for doctors to grow their careers well beyond their junior years.

“The growth that’s been happening here in the last few years is extraordinary,” he said.

“There’s a new acute services building, new emergency department, intensive care unit, operating theatre and delivery suites being built at the moment.

“The rate of growth of these services is quite phenomenal and within a few years it’s going to be one of the four or five biggest and busiest hospitals in the state,” he said.

Applications for JMO positions close 10 August, 2017.
