Nod for Westmead pharmacy technician

Westmead Hospital senior pharmacy technician Mark Clifford.

Congratulations to Westmead Hospital senior pharmacy technician Mark Clifford, who was recently awarded the 2017 NSW Branch Technician Award from the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA).

The NSW Pharmacy Technician award is presented annually and recognises a significant contribution made by a NSW Pharmacy Technician to their profession.

Mark is the senior pharmacy technician for sterile production services at Westmead’s pharmacy department.

In collaboration with the sterile production co-ordinator pharmacist, Mark helps oversee the day-to-day running of the aseptic suite.

Mark is integral in the training and development of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians/assistants in aseptic techniques, as well as ensuring standards are maintained, by regularly assessing staff and reviewing policies and procedures.

Prior to working at Westmead, Mark worked at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick and for Boots in the UK as a team leader and stock specialist.

Having originally trained as a high school teacher, Mark is committed to the continued development of pharmacy technicians and the vital role they play in the pharmacy sector.

Congratulations Mark!
