Mount Druitt Hospital’s new drug health space opening soon

New drug health facilities, opening soon at Mount Druitt Hospital, will provide more services closer to home for clients and families seeking treatment and support for addiction.
The new Centre for Addiction Medicine (CAM) includes treatment, consultation and counselling and a meeting room for programs.
Centre manager Grant Katte said the staff were very impressed with the new facility, which they designed with the project team and architects.

The facility is currently being commissioned, but Mr Katte said the team could already tell they have “nailed it” when it came to design.
“We’re very happy. We’re confident we’ve got the right patient flow,” Grant said.
“You can see already how well it’s going to work, with different areas for treatment, counselling and consultation, and a staff zone.”
Two of the consultation rooms can also be used for counselling, and one of the counselling rooms opens onto a secure play area, so clients with young children are not discouraged from attending.
The service will open at Mount Druitt Hospital in September.
The centre is conveniently located on Railway Street, co-located with New Beginnings, and has its own parking area.
