Books for bubs on International Literacy Day

Ajaya Bhandari, Aruna Khadka and baby Ashlyn received the books from ALEA volunteer Kathy Ferrari.

The Australian Literacy Educators Association (ALEA) Sydney West popped into Westmead Hospital’s maternity ward on September 8 to give books to newborn babies and their parents to mark International Literacy Day.

The families received a copy of Mem Fox’s picture book Baby Bedtime and a pamphlet highlighting the importance of reading to children from a young age.

New parents Aruna Khadka, Ajaya Bhandari and their baby Ashlyn were thrilled to receive the books from ALEA volunteer Kathy Ferrari.
