Gastroenterology ward prepares to move

Westmead Hospital’s gastroenterology ward will move from D3a/D3b to A3a on Wednesday, October 11.
A3a will be the new home of gastroenterology, which will be known as the Gastroenterology Comprehensive Care Centre and, and will include the newly named Gastroenterology Day Centre (outpatients’ day clinic). The new ward has 16 beds plus clinical space.
This relocation is part of a longer-term upgrade of gastroenterology and one small step in a large refurbishment program which includes areas such as:
- Gastroenterology
- Ambulatory Care
- Aged Care
- Respiratory
- Intensive Care
- Existing operating theatres
The next stage of the gastroenterology refurbishment includes 24 new inpatient beds and staff support zones.
Moving day impacts
Inpatients will start to move to A3a from 9am on Wednesday, October 11. Patients are set to be relocated by the afternoon.
The first outpatients will attend the clinic from 8am on Thursday, October 12.
Nursing staff, porters and removalists will work together to minimise impacts to patients and services.
Please avoid the area in and around D3a/D3b and A3a during the peak moving time between 8am-1pm on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 if possible. This includes the corridors immediately around A3a.
Phone numbers will remain the same. The ward phone is (02) 8890 6141, while the Gastroenterology Day Centre can be contacted on (02) 8890 9774.
The closest parking for visitors will be car park 1 (entry via Darcy Road).
