On 21 September 2017, Plumpton Marketplace hosted a community event, aimed at making a difference to the lives of local children and supporting the hard-working staff at Mount Druitt Hospital.

Plumpton Marketplace was one of 10 Dexus-managed shopping centres nationally to hold a BIG change for small change charity event to directly support children’s healthcare.

Plumpton Marketplace raised more than $7254 on the day, which was handed over to the children’s ward at Mount Druitt Hospital on October 12.

Plumpton Marketplace centre manager John Cooper said he was overwhelmed by the community’s generosity.

“I want to thank our volunteers and partners who came together to make a difference,” he said.

“As a result, the community has created BIG Change for small change to benefit local children’s health services.”

Funds raised on the day will be dedicated to purchasing new outdoor furniture, making the children’s ward garden more accessible, colourful and comfortable.

Mount Druitt Hospital general manager Sue-Anne Redmond said the hospital was grateful for the donation.

“We offer our heartfelt thanks to all in the community for digging deep to support our children’s ward,” she said.

BIG Change for small change was proudly supported by Mount Druitt Rotary Club, Mount Druitt Hospital Auxiliary, St Marys Mt Druitt Star, Vintage FM, Rap 4 Change, Carol Murray Productions, Static Dance Studios, Emerton Leisure Centre and GKR Karate.
