Thank you Blacktown carers

Volunteers and carers enjoy the morning tea.

A morning tea for Blacktown Hospital Cancer and Haematology staff and supportive care and Cancer Council volunteers was held on October 18.

Volunteer manager Kylie Clark, volunteer co-ordinator Glenda Golledge and Cancer Council co-ordinator Natalia Atcha have been working with the hospital’s volunteers to ensure patients, carers and their families are provided with the information and support they need.

This includes information while in hospital and as outpatients attending clinics, and having continued treatment through Blacktown Cancer and Haematology Centre.

Supportive Care volunteers provide companionship, hand massages and a listening ear for patients, as well as being there to support carers.

Volunteers for the Cancer Council Information Service Centre, located on Level 4 of Blacktown Hospital provide information and support for patients attending the clinics and infusion therapies.
