‘They are more than just carers’: Westmead carers thanked

Sally Neideck, Wendy Cain & Caitlin Hazell share their thoughts on why carers count.

Western Sydney Local Health District’s patient & carer experience team held an information stall in the main entrance of Westmead Hospital on October 17 to thank carers as part of National Carer’s Week (October 16 – 21).

The team gave out carer thank you bags, containing a mug, tea, coffee, note book and a small pamper item, and also chatted with several staff carers, who talked about how they combine work and caring responsibilities.

Many visitors also shared their thoughts on why carers count.

Australia has 2.8 million carers who provide $1 billion of unpaid care every week.

A HUGE thank you to all the carers in Western Sydney Local Health District – we really appreciate all you do!
