Westmead ENT & audiology refurbishment

Westmead Hospital’s ear, nose and throat (ENT) and audiology departments are getting a new home, thanks to the Westmead Redevelopment.
The refurbishment is part of the Westmead Redevelopment’s refurbishment program where more than 30 per cent of clinical areas in Westmead Hospital will be refurbished between 2017 and 2022.
Last Friday, staff from ENT and audiology went on a tour of the construction site, next to the executive offices in E2.
Staff were joined by members of the Westmead Redevelopment, as well as key members of the construction crew.
The new audiology and ENT unit will be operational in late January 2018.
The facilities include consult and procedure rooms, audio testing booths, a patient waiting area and administrative areas.
“Our staff are looking forward to moving into our new home. Our patients will welcome modern facilities, and the new location will provide easier access from the front of the hospital building ,” said ENT head Dr Narinder Singh.
The construction work to date has focused on removing existing internal walls, erecting frames for new walls and installing hydraulic, electrical and medical gas services.
Work in November will focus on constructing joinery and connecting services to existing hospital infrastructure.
