WSLHD carries out major audits

Westmead Hospital clinical nurse educator Sathya Balaguruswamy, patient Anthea Durham with TAFE nursing students Megan Gilchrist and Kayla Laurence.

WSLHD nursing and midwifery, in collaboration with clinical governance, allied health and our university partners, conducted the bi-annual pressure injury and falls point prevalence audits at all hospital facilities on November 2 – a massive undertaking!

For the first time, the two audits were carried out on the same day across the district – this was a huge initiative and involved extensive co-operation from staff.

This patient-safety initiative provides a mechanism to ensure our patients receive safe, high-quality and evidence-based care.

Thank you to the staff and students who supported this initiative.

Audit results will guide future strategies for improvement for our staff and patients.
