Thanks to the generosity of staff from Busways Windsor, a donation will contribute to the refurbishment of a Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre Westmead ward.

The idea to donate came about when a staff member and manager had been touched by cancer in their families.

Busways’ Learning and Development Officer Skye Lever said staff members across the business also had similar experiences.

“My mum has been fighting breast cancer for a number of years,” he said.

“Earlier this year, our manager Ian’s wife was also diagnosed with breast cancer.

“After that, we became aware of a number of our drivers and staff at Busways who have had similar experiences, so we set up a fundraiser for the cancer centre at Westmead Hospital.

“Both Ian’s wife and my mum had been there for various stages of treatment.”

The Busways team raised $775 for the cancer centre.

Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre Operations Manager Anne Caboche said the money will contribute to the refurbishment of ward C5C.

“Ward C5C is our cancer ward, where patients are admitted for targeted cancer treatment or symptom management.

“The refurbishment will help to make our cancer ward more welcoming and comfortable.”

“Thank you to the team at Busways for your generous donation – it will help make patient visits a lot more comfortable.”
