Blacktown Hospital’s With These Hands consumer sewing group have been busy creating special Christmas themed goodies for the Newborn Special Care Unit.

The volunteer sewers were keen to create items that will bring smiles and spread Christmas joy among bubs and their families.

Some of the items donated include little smocks for our patients, stockings to fill and hang and quilts for humidicribs and cots.

“It brings tears to my eyes. These wonderful gifts will  mean so much to our families and will certainly brighten up the ward for Christmas,” said nurse unit manager Terry Freeman.

“It’s a difficult time of year for our families and we do our best to make the unit a happier, joyous place. These lovely donations will certainly boost morale.”

With These Hands is a volunteer group that meets on a monthly basis to make and create sewing based resources for various units and to provide valuable consumer feedback on any relevant projects or collateral.  To discuss a potential project or to provide resources to be reviewed, please contact Amanda Nowak, Shared Therapies at Blacktown Hospital on 9881 8000 or amanda.nowak@health.nsw.gov.au
