WSLHD Consumer Council met our chief executive Danny O’Connor.

WSLHD chief executive Danny O’Connor recently met with WSLHD Consumer Council and reflected on what he sees as the achievements of the Community and Consumer Partnerships program since it was formed in December 2014.

“I am delighted to be here because this is what matters.  The Consumer Council has built a strong reputation as a key internal partner for the district and this is where the power rests as we grow our relationship with our consumers.

“The relationship between staff and consumer is what we are all about!  The voice of the consumer has grown to reflect the confidence and trust between staff and consumers due to the support of the program,” Danny said.

WSLHD Community and Consumer Partnerships program manager Dr Coralie Wales commended the CE for prioritising his time to meet the consumer representatives.

“We know we are making a difference. In the new Westmead Hospital there were no carer beds in the initial plan. Now, fifty percent of all single rooms will have carer accommodation. This was due to the persistent consumer-focused conversations led by consumer representatives Kathy and Evert van Oeveren,” Coralie said.
