Ronald McDonald House Westmead opens

Ronald McDonald House officially opened with ribbon cutting.
His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove and Geoff Lee MP, Seat of Parramatta, cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the upgraded Ronald McDonald House.

After three years of construction, Ronald McDonald House Westmead (RMHW) has officially opened!

The opening was marked by His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove and Geoff Lee MP, Seat of Parramatta and Ronald McDonald House executives.

Children and families with long associations with RMHW were also on-hand to help celebrate the opening of the new facility.

RMHW was established in 1986 and has since provided a warm, friendly home-away-from-home for almost 12,000 families with seriously ill children receiving treatment at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

By staying at RMHW, families remain connected, and parents and carers can better communicate with their child’s medical teams.

Families can also give each other the moral and emotional support needed to get through their child’s illness.

The new facility was funded via the #BuildingLove campaign, which generated thousands of donations from the public and community organisations.
