L-R Western Sydney Local Health District chief executive Danny O’Connor, Westmead Hospital’s Professor Henry Pleass and A/Professor Amir Ghaferi from the University of Michigan.

Westmead Hospital was home to some very sharp minds from around the USA and Australia on Friday.

As part of the hospital’s International Professorial Symposium, our brightest minds joined forces with international guests to tackle some of the hot topics in health.

Six visiting surgical academics were in attendance, including professors universities in Adelaide, Texas, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Topics discussed included health policy and research, improving outcomes for challenged populations and reducing healthcare costs.

Westmead Hospital’s Professor Henry Pleass said the event was a great opportunity for the facility.

“The event was a chance to hear from some of the world leaders in health care research, to help us strive for better outcomes for our patients,” Prof Pleass said.

“A huge thank you to Professor Richard Hanney and Georgette Hanna from the Westmead Association for putting this event together.”
