Ever seen salsa dancing in a hospital?

Volunteers from Blacktown Hospital’s palliative and supportive care service salsa danced their kind and generous hearts away at Blacktown Hospital today.

Supportive care volunteers provide care and assistance to patients with a life-limiting illness by cheering them up or simply providing an ear to listen.

As a thank you for the joy they provide patients, carers and families, the volunteers were treated to a salsa class as part of National Volunteer Week.

Staff and visitors also joined in on the salsa action, learning a few steps after watching a performance by dance troupe Urban Salsa.

Urban Salsa performers show volunteers some salsa moves.

Urban Salsa organiser Raymund Sarita was glad he could bring joy to the volunteers.

“This is the least we could do to say thank you to all the volunteers who make such a difference,” Raymund said.

“We salute all their hard work, dedication and compassion.”
