It’s now been six months since the Westmead Redevelopment project team opened the new multi-storey car park at Westmead Hospital and the benefit of the parking upgrades can been seen across the precinct.
Completed in December 2017, the multi-storey car park was a major piece of infrastructure, delivered as part of the $72 million invested by the NSW Government, in upgrading parking across the Westmead precinct. Upgrades have also included new pedestrian paths, a new car park management contractor and new lighting, CCTV and signage.
The new multi-storey car park is available for Westmead Hospital patients, carers and visitors and staff. The eight-storey cark park includes:
- More than 1200 spaces for staff, patients, carers and visitors
- An elevated pedestrian link-bridge connecting the car park to the hospital
- Counters to indicate spaces for staff, patients and visitors
- A new green space linking Westmead Hospital to the broader precinct, including pedestrian pathways and seating areas.
- Natural ventilation
A reminder to all of our staff, patients and visitors that the speed limit within Westmead car parks, the Westmead health precinct and Cumberland Hospital is 20km/hour.
With increased construction activity across the precinct, as part of the Westmead Redevelopment project, there are more people, cars and construction vehicles on our roads and footpaths and it is critical we ensure the safety of everyone.
We ask that everybody exercise caution when navigating the precinct, and to follow directional signage at all times.
If you notice any unsafe or reckless driving behaviour, please contact the Westmead Redevelopment project on 1800 990 296 or email us at WSLHD-WestmeadProject@health.nsw.gov.au
