New boss for Westmead and Auburn hospitals

Western Sydney Local Health District welcomes Westmead and Auburn hospitals new general manager, Brett Thompson.

The Pulse caught up with Brett who gave us an insight into his life.

“I trained as a dietitian in WA and my first role was a community dietitian at Campbelltown NSW.  I worked at Campbelltown Hospital for 14 years in a variety of roles, including managing dietetics and food services, and as a business manager,” Mr Thompson said.

“My wife and I relocated to Port Macquarie where I managed community health services for nearly four years.

“We moved to the north coast where I managed the transition of corporate services across the Health Support (now known as HealthShare) before taking on the role as Network coordinator of the Richmond Network, managing Lismore Base and either feeder hospitals.

“In 2011 we relocated to Adelaide where I was Lyell McEwin Hospital general manager of and then subsequently became Northern Adelaide Local Health Network chief operating officer managing Modbury and Lyell McEwin Hospitals.

“We moved to Wagga Wagga NSW in 2015 where I was the Murrumbidgee Local Health District director operations before commencing in my new role as Westmead and Auburn hospitals general manager.

“I am looking forward to working with the staff and supporting them to develop new ideas and models of care, particularly as the redevelopment is gaining momentum.”
