Westmead becomes media central for 25 millionth resident

Westmead Hospital is media central for the 25 million population announcement. Front and centre is mum Shravanthi Vooturi and registered midwife Deema Taha.

Westmead Hospital had a host of media networks, accommodating SBS and ABC news as well as The Australian newspaper to announce Australia reaching the 25 millionth person.

Wentworthville mother of two Shravanthi Vooturi gave birth to her second son at 1.19am on August 7 adding to the countdown to the 25 millionth person.

Westmead Hospital Women’s and Newborn Health delivers around 16 babies each day.

There has been a 50 per cent increase in births at Westmead over the past 15 years and 70 per cent of these women were born overseas.
