iCare is not after sales service support you get with your new Hyundai car – it is also the largest public sector insurance agency in Australia.

Each year iCare hosts an award ceremony to recognise and reward outstanding service delivery in the NSW government agencies.

This year Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) Risk Management Unit nominated their director Kim Paull for the Risk Leadership category due to her demonstrated ability to improve operational and performance within the Risk Management Unit.

The Risk Management Unit comprises of 22 staff who provide a service to more than 13,500 employees in areas which include insurable risk, work health and safety, workers compensation and enterprise risk.

WSLHD Corporate Governance director Doug Catchpole commended Kim on being a finalist for these awards, adding some of her strengths include identifying and mitigating risk across the organisation and gaining the respect of the Executive and her peers for her ability to work with staff at all levels.

“Kim is a wonderful asset to the district, she has lots of expertise in her field and she’s very supportive and approachable,” Mr Catchpole said.

“She has been instrumental in the inception of WSLHD’s ‘Violence Prevention Program’ (VPP).  The VPP uses a multidisciplinary approach to address the issue of high level aggression and violence in our workplaces, engaging with the perpetrators of such behaviours through the ideology ‘Respect Works Both Ways’ which is the motto for the program.”

The competition within the Risk Leadership category was fierce and although Kim didn’t win the award, she is definitely a winner in the eyes of her team!
