Role title change of Chief Digital Health Officer

The Ministry of Health and WSLHD office of the Chief Executive has now formalised Barry Mather’s role to be changed from Chief Information Officer to Chief Digital Health Officer.

“We play a pivotal role in the convergence of digital health technologies across the breadth of Western Sydney LHD and as such our new department name will be Digital Health Solutions (DHS),” he said.

Barry is responsible for information communications technology strategy, planning, IT service delivery and working in partnership with clinical and business areas across the district to deliver new technology solutions and assure technology reliability.

He is passionate about the role technology plays in enabling safe, efficient and effective healthcare.

For three years Barry worked as the CIO at the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Services where he was responsible for IT strategy, IT operational services & clinical information services (medical records) along with IT Projects leading the technology design and implementation at the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
