Help make ‘Run 4 Jess’ a success

For seven years Steve Clark with the help of his mother Lynette Clark has organised the Run 4 Jess appeal in memory of his wife Jess Clark, who passed away in 2013.
The fun run or walk will be held on Saturday 16 March from 2pm at CV Kelly Park, Oramzi Road, Girraween.
Run 4 Jess aims to raise funds for the Westmead Medical Research Foundation (WMRF) in support of Westmead Hospital’s oncology ward.
After Jess passed away, Steve and Lynette encouraged family and friends to make a donation to the ward rather than send flowers.
Then, Girraween Athletics Club kindly offered to hold a fun run to help raise even more funds.
Steve is grateful for the support of doctors and nurses who dedicate a huge portion of their lives to helping patients and families when they need it most.
“This activity is a way to bring people together who loved and valued Jess as well as raise money for cancer research,” Steve said.
“The fun run has served a dual purpose of being a competitive athletic meeting and also a chance for friends and family to honour her memory.
“The oncology ward team treated Jess like family.
“They were very compassionate and celebrate her successes and mourned when we lost her.
“Fundraising allows us to give something back to help members of the community,” Steve said.
