Auburn’s fresh food fever

Auburn Hospital visitor Susan Lanycia supports the healthier menu.

Visitors and staff are complimenting the hospital and the Zouki food outlet for introducing more healthier foods and drinks at Auburn Hospital.

Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) Population Health, Healthy Living and Active Living coordinator Rachael Graham is delighted that Zouki has upgraded its menu to a healthier and affordable range.

“The outlet now provides vegetable frittatas, Greek salads, fruit salads, on-the-go hummus, sandwiches using wholemeal or multigrain breads,” Rachael said.

“We’ve been working across all our hospitals with our retailers to make healthy food and drink choices more available.

“It’s great to see customers and staff noticing the changes.  We know small steps can make a big difference to our health,” Rachael said.

Susan Lanycia regularly visited her father in hospital and recently made the switch from full cream to skim milk.

“It feels good to have a café with healthy choices,” Susan said.

“I’m always trying to make sure I watch what I eat and live happily.”

Members of the WSLHD Population Health team will be at Auburn Hospital on 9 April so you can ‘Have Your Say’ about these changes.
