Volunteers grant Blacktown physio wish

Members of Blacktown Hospital Auxiliary test drive the treadmill in the Physiotherapy department.

The Blacktown Hospital Auxiliary volunteers have raised funds for a $9,000 treadmill for the physiotherapy department at Blacktown Hospital.

The treadmill will assist Blacktown Hospital patients who have had pain, injury or surgery on their feet, ankles, knees and hips, helping them recover quicker and feel more confident.

Blacktown Hospital physiotherapy department head Ian Starkey said the equipment can perform cardiac monitoring, can manage up to 180kg and has an adjustable incline feature.

“The volunteers always grant us our wishes – this piece is no exception,” Ian said.

“Our patients and staff appreciate the generosity of Blacktown and Mount Druitt’s Hospital Auxiliary who go that extra mile and supplied the treadmill enabling us to deliver a high level of care to our patients and community.”
