Westmead Hospital staff have today joined Muslims around the globe in celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a celebration to mark the end of Ramadan.

A feast held in the Westmead Hospital executive office was hosted this morning with staff from various cultures, including those returning to work after time off due to Ramadan celebrations.

Finance officer Hamida Ali and Leading Better Value Care program manager Faiza Wajahat organised the event, gathering their co-workers in the finance, revenue and the executive teams to feast on traditional pizzas, baklava and mezza treats.

Hamida said the event highlighted the multiculturalism and inclusiveness at Western Sydney Local Health District.

“Many people in the office were asking us many questions during Ramadan about why we are fasting,” Hamida said.

“I wanted to do something different and show the team that Eid is like a Christmas celebration but for Muslims.”
