You’re invited: DonateLife Week launch at the Opera House – this Sunday 28 July from 4.30pm – 6.30pm

Encouraging people to give the gift of life and reminding people to have tje important discussion about their organ donation wishes is the aim of the game during DonateLife Week 2019.

The Opera House will be illuminated in the colour of magenta to prompt the community to have a talk with their family.

Magenta is the colour theme for Donate Life Week, to be celebrated from 28 July – 4 August this year.

This Sunday community members can show their support by attending the DonateLife Week launch on the steps of the Opera House from 4.30pm – 6.30pm.

Those impacted by organ and tissue donation – patients, families and carers – are encouraged to attend.

Western Sydney Local Health District organ and tissue donation clinical nurse consultant Monica Walker highlighted the importance of having a discussion about organ donation with the family.

“Families play a crucial role in the donation process because they are asked to confirm your donation decision, in the event you pass away,” Monica said.

In NSW, the donation decision is no longer registered on your driver’s licence.

The only place to now register is through the Australian Organ Donor Register website.

For further information about the launch, contact Madeline Bowmer at madeline.bowmer@health.nsw.gov.au or on 0407 419 477.
