Votes flying in for 2019 NewsLocal People’s Choice award

The 2019 Quality Awards Showcases kick-off at Westmead Hospital with the general manager Brett Thompson cutting a celebratory cake. 

In just three days, more than 2,700 votes have been submitted for the 2019 Quality Awards NewsLocal People’s Choice Award.

Community members and Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) staff visited a showcase at Westmead Hospital today to cast their vote and others have submitted their preference for their favourite health project online.

The NewsLocal People’s Choice award, offered in partnership with the event’s media partners NewsLocal, will be announced at WSLHD’s Quality Awards ceremony – the organisation’s red carpet event of the year.

The event celebrates staff and teams from WSLHD who have delivered projects that have improved healthcare delivery in western Sydney.

WSLHD acting director of clinical governance Heather Doolan said hundreds visited the first of five Quality Awards showcases at Westmead Hospital today.

“I’m delighted that 576 votes were registered at Westmead Hospital today,” Heather said.

“We look forward to seeing who wins the 2019 NewsLocal People’s Choice Award.”

Voting closes on 23 August.

The Quality Awards ceremony is by invitation-only. It will be held on 27 September 2019 at the Western Sydney University Rydalmere campus.

• Blacktown Hospital eastern lobby (Hospital Street) – 13 August, 10am – 2pm

• Cumberland Hospital PARC Building– 14 August, 10am – 1.30pm

• Mount Druitt Hospital (adjacent to BreastScreen)– 15 August, 10am – 1.30pm

• Auburn Hospital main entrance – 16 August, 10am – 2.30pm Light refreshments will be available at each event.
