Thousands vote for favourite 2019 Quality Awards health project

Cumberland Hospital staff attended one of five showcases held at western Sydney hospitals this week.

This year’s NewsLocal People’s Choice award is proving to be hugely competitive, with more than 7,400 votes submitted at Quality Awards showcases this week or online.

The NewsLocal People’s Choice award, offered in partnership with the event’s media partners NewsLocal, will be announced at Western Sydney Local Health District’s (WSLHD) Quality Awards ceremony on 27 September – the organisation’s red carpet event of the year.

Westmead Hospital general manager Brett Thompson gets the voting underway with a cake cutting.

The event celebrates staff and teams from WSLHD who have delivered projects that have improved healthcare delivery in western Sydney. Eleven awards are presented on the night.

WSLHD acting clinical governance director Heather Doolan said she was pleased with the number of votes so far.

“We have so many talented staff and teams working within our hospitals,” Heather said.

Acting general manager Ned Katrib kicks off the showcase at Blacktown Hospital.

“To date, we have received more than 7,440 votes – which is proof of how impressed our staff and community are with the quality of our health projects in western Sydney.

“I encourage anyone who hasn’t voted to go online now and show the teams how much you appreciate their hard work, dedication and commitment to the communities of western Sydney.

Auburn Hospital staff are eager to vote for their projects.

“It was fabulous to see our chief executive and general managers, executive and other senior staff congratulating and encouraging the teams and prompting interest for the 2020 awards at our showcases.

“Thank you to everyone who has voted and to NewsLocal for their ongoing support with our awards.”

Mount Druitt Hospital staff vote for their favourite submission.

Voting closes at 5pm on Friday 23 August.
