First time dad Andrew Fitzsimons today celebrated his first Father’s Day at Westmead Hospital with his partner Lois and seven-day old baby boy Archer.
The proud new Wentworthville parents are hoping to take Archer home today to settle him in with a new routine and lots of love and cuddles.
“It’s terrific being a new dad and I’m learning a lot really quickly,” Andrew said.
“All the midwives here at Westmead Hospital have been great.
“I’ve had hands on experience with changing nappies and can manage the wrap.
“Archer’s terrific and I fell in love the second I saw him but I was scared on the first day that he would break!
“I’ve got used to holding him now.”
Mum and Children’s Hospital at Westmead nurse Lois praised her husband, saying Andrew was a natural from day one.
“He’s doing a terrific job,” Lois said.
Nine News cameraman Martin Huisman visited Westmead Hospital today to capture Archie and his parents for tonight’s bulletin.
The dad of three celebrated his Father’s Day last night.
“It’s the nature of the beast working on Father’s Day but on the plus side I get to meet wonderful people like the Fitzsimons,” Martin said.
