Westmead awarded for commitment to disability employment
Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) has been recognised for its commitment to the employment of people with an intellectual disability, with the district taking home two awards at a recent Jobsupport ceremony.
Marija Banovic is one employee with a disability who enjoys her role at Westmead Hospital. Jobsupport helped Marija gain fulltime employment in the hospital’s postal services department in October 2017
“I feel awesome when I come to work and I get paid to work with great people,” Marija said.
Westmead Hospital postal services supervisor Jude Frazer said Marija is a valuable member of the organisation.
“Since Marija joined our department she has developed workplace skills and independence, and staff morale and productivity has improved through a more committed and diverse workplace,” Jude said.
“Being part of a team who continues to support Jobsupport clients in quality employment is truly life-altering for all involved.
“The postal services team is supportive of Marija and delighted to have her as part of our team.”
Westmead Hospital and WSLHD were both recognised by Jobsupport for their commitment to employing with a disability.
Jobsupport is Australia’s leading disability employment service which helps people with significant intellectual disability into paid employment.
