Sprint to see champion athlete turned doctor at Health Forum

There are only a couple of days remaining to secure your place at the 2019 Western Sydney Health Forum on Wednesday 31 October at 5.30pm.
World champion athlete Jana Pittman will be talking about her career transition into medicine at Blacktown Hospital, and guests will find out about the key achievements for Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) over the last financial year.
Community members will have the opportunity to ask questions as part of an interactive panel discussion convened by NewsLocal senior journalist Jake McCallum along with health directors and experts from WSLHD.
WSLHD chief executive Graeme Loy has encouraged staff and the community to come along to the event.

“Over the last financial year we have delivered 10,658 babies, performed 44,628 surgeries and treated 200,000 people in our emergency departments,” Graeme said.
“We’ve had a huge year of infrastructure development with our facilities getting bigger, future-proofing our ability to service the health needs for an expanding population.
“We’ve also strengthened relationships with our Aboriginal community, attracted millions in research funding to inform better patient care and developed our partnerships and important work with the Western Sydney Primary Health Network.
“I encourage the community to come along to this year’s Western Sydney Health Forum to find out more about our biggest milestones and achievements, and what the future will look like.”
Would you like to ask our expert panel a question at the forum? You can ask a question on the night or email your query in advance for the panel’s consideration: wslhd-thepulse@health.nsw.gov.au

An open day will be held prior to the forum, with a variety of health stallholders on display featuring expert advice and information on diabetes, organ donation and tobacco replacement therapy. Basic health checks, free health coaching and hand massages will be available for all.
Attendance to the health forum and open day is free. All ages welcome.
