Spring Gala raises $100k for Blacktown and Mount Druitt hospitals

Blacktown City Council general manager Kerry Robinson, Better Foundation chief executive Nermeen Yacoub and Blacktown MP Stephen Bali.

The forecast was for a hot evening with a shower of generosity as former weatherman Mike Bailey hosted the second Better Foundation Spring Gala.

The annual event is a major fundraiser for the Better Foundation, the partner charity of Blacktown and Mount Druitt hospitals.

More than 350 guests attended and through silent auctions and a raffle more than $100,000 was raised for equipment, research and education at the hospitals.

Blacktown Workers Club supplied the venue, food and drinks free of charge, and Lander Toyota donated a car as the major raffle prize.

Better Foundation chief executive Nermeen Yacoub said the gala was a fun night with entertainment provided by event cover band Kaleidoscope Dream featuring Adam Katz.

“We are hugely grateful to the local community for supporting our local hospitals,” Nermeen said.

“The event was a huge success and has raised valuable funds for equipment, research and training that will allow us to deliver the best care to our patients.”
