Look up and live in the moment: elderly patients’ advice to young women for #IWD2020

One of the best advantages of getting older is that you also get wiser.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, Westmead Hospital’s older generation of female patients were approached to impart some advice for young women.
The patients were asked to share what they wished someone had told their younger selves.
From women coming in for physical rehabilitation classes and recovery from broken bones to receiving breast cancer support, nine women shared their tips, hoping the younger generation will strive to be their best selves.
“Turn off your phones and live in the moment,” breast cancer survivor Lynn Wade said.
“I look at young girls sitting at the bus stop with their heads in the phones.
“They don’t know it yet but life is passing by.
“Before you know it, your best days are behind you.
“Look up, and live in the moment.”
