An additional Western Sydney COVID-19 drive-through clinic has opened in Carlingford, thanks to the strong collaboration between the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD), St Vincent’s SydPath, WentWest, the Western Sydney Primary Health Network (WSPHN), and LeJeune Family Medical Practice.
Established on a greenfield site located at Murray Farm Reserve, this brings to Western Sydney its ninth clinic in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Patients with moderate respiratory symptoms such as a fever, sore throat, coughing, tiredness, or shortness of breath can attend for assessment and testing.
Dr John James, the Principal Doctor at Lejeune Family Medical Practice said that this dedicated drive-through clinic will meet the need of improved access to testing in Carlingford and surrounding suburbs.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide greater accessibility to COVID-19 testing for our community, particularly the most vulnerable who may be experiencing symptoms. We could not have achieved this outcome without the support of WentWest, WSLHD and SydPath as well as the hard work of our staff and contractors who have dedicated the last few weeks to finishing the build of this clinic, with the goal of offering a safe and well-resourced space for both staff and patients.”
WentWest CEO, Ray Messom affirmed the need for such a clinic in the community, to provide increased support to patients with COVID-19 symptoms, while avoiding added strain on local general practice and nearby hospital COVID-19 testing services and emergency departments.
“Again, the primary health sector in Western Sydney has recognised a need and has efficiently delivered a solution for people in the region. This is fantastic news for patients, particularly those living in Carlingford, who now have another local service available for testing, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Dr James and the LeJeune team, the City of Parramatta, and the WSLHD. We are extremely proud to have played a part in delivering this outcome for our community.
“I continue to be blown away by the level of collaboration in Western Sydney – three clinics are NSW Health/WSLHD led, three are Commonwealth/PHN and three are regionally co-designed and co-commissioned by WSLHD/WSPHN in partnership with Blacktown Council, City of Parramatta and Stockland Merrylands. We are ‘one system’ here in Western Sydney with plans in the works for further system enhancements to co-commission value-based, patient-centred care post pandemic,” Mr Messom said.
Appointments are recommended for assessment and treatment at the clinic, with online bookings as the preferred method of securing an appointment.
Patients do not require a referral and can access these services free of charge.
Appointments can be made by visiting firstname.lastname@example.org. Patients can arrive without an appointment; however, pre-booking ensures patients are fast tracked with no need to wait in line.
The clinic is located at Murray Farm Reserve, 71 Murray Farm Road, Carlingford and is open between the hours of 8.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday.
The clinic is a short distance from LeJeune Family Medical Practice.
