COVID-19 has made many health workers busier than ever but you wouldn’t know it from the incredible array of Quality Awards submissions received this year.

More than 50 projects have been entered from across the district, including a record 10 from Auburn Hospital – all of which are currently on display for the hospital’s own annual awards ceremony, the AQUA Awards.

From newborn care to preventing falls for elderly patients, the whole spectrum of health is reflected in the projects designed to improve quality of care.

Auburn Hospital quality and accreditation manager Sally Henderson said she was very impressed with the entries on display this year.

“We had to do things a little differently this year – for example, it’s no longer appropriate to have a morning tea in the foyer to check out all the project posters,” Sally said.

“Instead we decided to promote the people’s choice voting via QR codes printed on individually-wrapped cookies. They were so popular amongst staff and also helped us thank staff in a small way for all their hard work this year

“Well done to all the teams for working on these incredible projects, and best of luck in the hospital and district awards.”

Voting is open now until August 10 for the People’s Choice AQUA – find out more about each project and vote here: https://www.wslhd.health.nsw.gov.au/aqua

All the winners will be announced on Thursday, September 10.

The new-look WSLHD Quality Awards will go ahead with a virtual event this year on Wednesday, September 23 – stay tuned for an imminent announcement about this year’s special hosts.
