Adding your COVID-19 digital certificate to the Service NSW app

Residents across NSW will be able to integrate the COVID-19 digital vaccination certificate into their Service NSW app from today with the program now rolling out State-wide.

A COVID-19 digital certificate is available to people who have received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Minister for Digital and Customer Service Victor Dominello said with restrictions to further ease as the state approaches 80 per cent double vaccination, the integration of the vaccine certificate with the app will make things easier for the people of NSW.

“This is an extra digital service to make life easier for the businesses and customers of NSW as we open back up. NSW is the first jurisdiction in Australia to roll out an integrated QR code solution for displaying vaccination status State wide,” Mr Dominello said.

“When someone visits a venue, they’ll be able to show their green check-in tick and vaccination status simultaneously, saving staff and customers time.”

Adding your COVID-19 digital certificate to the Service NSW app

You’ll first need a MyServiceNSW Account and the latest version of the Service NSW app.

You can then add your COVID-19 digital certificate using either the Express Plus Medicare app or your Medicare online account through myGov.

If you’re using the Express Plus Medicare app:

  1. Open the Express Plus Medicare app.
  2. Select ‘Proof of vaccinations’ from Services. 
  3. Select ‘View history’. 
  4. Select your name, then ‘View COVID-19 digital certificate’. 
  5. Select ‘Share with check in app’. 
  6. Select ‘Service NSW’ and follow the prompts. 
  7. Log in to your Service NSW app and follow the prompts to add your certificate to your profile.

If you’re using your Medicare online account through myGov

  1. Sign in to your myGov account using a browser on your device. 
  2. Select ‘Medicare’. 
  3. Select ‘View proof’ in Proof of vaccinations. 
  4. Select ‘View history’. 
  5. Select your name. 
  6. Select ‘Share with check in app’. 
  7. Select ‘Service NSW’ and follow the prompts. 
  8. Log in to your Service NSW app and follow the prompts to add your certificate to your profile. 

The Service NSW app will include a number of security measures to help compliance officers and businesses with checking and validating a customer’s vaccination status, including a NSW Waratah logo hologram and rotating QR codes, similar to the Digital Driver Licence.
