The Coleman Greig Challenge is western Sydney’s largest charity event supporting children with special needs at St Gabriel’s School, Castle Hill and newborn babies at Westmead Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Run by the Westmead Hospital Foundation, participants can run, walk or cycle anywhere and anytime during Challenge week from 12-19 November.
Participants are encouraged to track their activity either manually be uploading it to the Challenge platform or syncing their Fitbit, Strava or Apple watch.
This year’s Challenge proceeds will help upgrade the Panda Warmers in Westmead Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, with improved heart rate and oxygen monitoring of newborns.
“The Coleman Greig Challenge is more than just a charity event, it’s western Sydney giving back and supporting our most vulnerable children and newborn babies,” said Westmead Hospital Foundation Ambassador Jana Pittman.
For the first time healthcare staff can register themselves and their families for free to participate in this year’s Coleman Greig Virtual Challenge.
“We are excited to announce that free registration is available to healthcare staff and their families thanks to InnoWell, sponsoring the Westmead Hospital Team in the Coleman Greig Challenge,” added Westmead Hospital Foundation CEO Mat Fisher.
InnoWell’s Content Manager, Josh McInnes said, “InnoWell is excited to join the Coleman Greig Virtual Challenge again in celebrating the important role of physical activity, social connection, and community play in personal wellbeing”.
“We believe everyone deserves to be mentally fit and healthy with access to the right tools, professionals, and care when and how they need them; and as such we’re proud to continue to show our support for the heroes at St Gabriel’s School and Westmead Hospital,” said Mr McInnes.
Last year’s Challenge proceeds funded six Bilisoft blankets for the treatment of jaundice in newborn babies at Westmead Hospital.
