“Hi, I’m Graeme Loy, Chief Executive for Western Sydney Local Health District.
Today is National Close the Gap Day.
It’s an opportunity to demonstrate to all Australians that we value equality and equity as a fundamental right for all.
A large part of our population in western Sydney identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and it’s important that we as a whole community continue the process of closing the gap.
I’m incredibly proud of the work that we do in our Aboriginal space, and I’m passionate about closing the gap.
This year, we’ll continue working on our Reconciliation Action Plan and are working to commence an Aboriginal Council.
There are many other initiatives that we’re looking to develop and send into action in consultation and collaboration with our Aboriginal people.”
