Humans of the Hospital: Julie McLeay

“I’ve spent most of my life working here at Auburn Hospital. I was 25 when I started and now I’m 70. It’s a family atmosphere here at Auburn Hospital – you know nearly everyone who works here. The people are nice and very easy to work with and it’s a comfortable environment. I’ve made lifelong friends.

“I started working at Auburn Hospital in 1975 and I only ever wanted to work in the Birth Unit. You get an adrenaline rush working in the Birth Unit, similar to what people who work in the Emergency Department experience. You don’t know what’s going to happen, and it’s hard when an emergency happens, but once you get through it, you take a moment and think ‘wow, we did it’.
