WSLHD Announcement: Appointment of New Board Chair and Departure of Previous Chair

Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Loretta Di Mento as the new WSLHD Board Chair, effective from 1 August 2023. Loretta has been serving as the WSLHD Deputy Chair for the past 2.5 years, and her outstanding dedication and contributions have prepared her well for this significant leadership role.
Loretta brings a wealth of experience in Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Finance, and Corporate reporting to the position. With over 25 years of experience in audit and accountancy, particularly in the health, aged care, and education sectors, she possesses invaluable knowledge that will further strengthen the Board and contribute to its continued success in guiding WSLHD towards the future.
Her background includes holding roles on boards and audit committees for not-for-profit organizations and both State and Commonwealth governments. Loretta’s practical understanding of effective risk management and leading corporate governance practices, coupled with her experience in managing entities undergoing significant change, make her a valuable addition to the leadership team.
As an active coach and mentor, Loretta has a history of leading diverse teams and supporting their professional growth and development. Her expertise will undoubtedly prove instrumental in advancing WSLHD’s objectives and ensuring the continued delivery of exceptional healthcare services.


WSLHD will also be farewelling Richard Alcock AO, who has been the Board Chair for the past seven years. Richard’s outstanding leadership and dedication have made a significant impact on the organization and the Westmead Health Precinct.
Richard’s impressive background in health management roles, corporate governance, law, and higher education organizations has garnered him recognition and awards, including the Order of Australia (AO). Throughout his tenure, he worked tirelessly to enhance WSLHD’s reputation and engaged influential stakeholders to support the District’s mission.
Among his notable achievements, Richard spearheaded the implementation of WSLHD’s first bursary program, providing valuable support to staff members seeking to advance their careers. His legacy of transformative leadership will be remembered and appreciated by the entire WSLHD community.
WSLHD extends its warmest welcome to Loretta Di Mento as she takes on the role of WSLHD Board Chair, and expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Richard Alcock AO for his exceptional contributions as the outgoing Board Chair.
