WSLHD launches free WiFi channel for hospital patients to stream Matildas game

Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) has launched a guest WiFi channel for all patients and visitors to provide free streaming of the Matildas game tonight.

Visitors simply need to log into the ‘C19’ WiFi network, no password is required.

For the first time, WSLHD will also livestream the match on selected TVs across their hospitals. Patients and visitors at Blacktown and Mount Druitt, Westmead, Cumberland and Auburn hospitals will be able to watch the game from waiting areas on site.

The match will start at 8pm on Channel 7, and can be streamed from your phone or tablet on the Channel 7 website. ABC Sport will also broadcast the game live via the ABC listen app.

WSLHD chief executive Graeme Loy said the Matildas have inspired and captured hearts across the nation.

“The Matildas are no overnight success – established in 1975, what we are seeing unfold is the result of players and coaching staff focused on creating inspiration and hope for the next generation,” Mr Loy said.

“Even in front of empty stadiums – they persisted in solidarity – and today we see the results of that determination.”

Mr Loy said the Matildas are helping to mend the Aussie spirit after the impacts of the pandemic, by bringing everyone together.

“I am proud of the Matildas players – both past and present – for their eagerness to put Australia and women’s sport on the map, but also – to show the nation what can finally happen when inclusivity is welcomed with open arms.”
